Are you a compulsive weeder?

I’m walking along campus. It’s construction season; pretty much every road we have is torn up. They’ve finished a few bits near my building, weedand are trying to get the grass to sprout again.

I can’t help it. When I’m walking by, and I see these big giant weeds next to the tiny, 1 inch grass….

I WANT TO PULL UP THE WEEDS. They aren’t even my weeds. But I want to yank them out.

I’ve never heard of OCD weeding, but I’m beginning to think I’ve got it.

How about you? Via the magic of trackbacks, I’m poking the Burro, Illegal Garden, and the Compost Bin. If you haven’t noticed, by the way, This Garden is Illegal has a giant list of gardening blogs. Check some out!

Hi, I’m sorry to bother you here. I saw your comment on Akisment count/spam queue here: http://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic.php?id=14238&page&replies=8

I’d like to ask something, hope you don’t mind, and hopefully you can help me out. I’m having problems with people not able to post comment on my blog (I think only one person, so far he’s the only one who contacted me saying so). I’ve checked out a few forums concerning this, and went to check the settings on my blog. Everything is fine but the comments still don’t appear. Why is that so? He said that when he tried submitting the comment a 2nd time, something shows up which said “you’ve submitted that already”.

Another thing: can we view the spams that has been caught by Akismet? The funny thing is on the tab of Akismet Spam it says 0, but when I check the details (at the bottom), it says it has caught 8 spams for me. I check my spam every day.

Hope you can help. Sorry for bothering you.

I’m always weeding: I routinely “do” my neighbour’s hedge and lawn and the walkways around my home. Along the street, I pause to look at planters, and pull a weed or two. (Or three.)

    I deadhead, too.

OCD, or common sense? Fewer hawkweeds down the block mean fewer go to seed and make their way to my garden.

Besides, I like to look at a well-maintained plot.

“Hi, my name is andrea, and I’m a compulsive weeder…”
    — I’ll weed flowerpots at filling stations while my Bug is refuelling, or really most anywhere. Drives hubby nutz, but how can one resist?!

Actually I display OCD traits in several ways, but it seems to be below diagnostic threshold as I never feel that I *have* to do something to prevent or ward off something bad from happening.

Oh wait a minute — what’s that bit about “one year’s weeding saves seven years’ seeding”? Uh-oh.

I am a hit or miss OCD weeder. If I can resist that first weed pulled, I do okay. But once I pull one little weed, the next thing I know is that and hour has passed and my pants are ruined (again). It gets a hold of you, doesn’t it? ;) Thanks for the shout out BTW.

I picked a weed in Reno, just to watch it die.

Yup, I sort of agree. I see them all around work but I can’t help but marvel at their tenacity… and take photos :-D
