When the movie perpetuates sexist stereotypes, I will definitely call them on it.

Are you seriously going to knock the realism of this movie? Did it escape your attention that they're DRIVING CARS?!?!

The thing that i found the most frustrating was when it said "science says bees can’t fly". Other than that I managed to suspend my disbelief enough to enjoy the movie. It was a kids movie so I accepted many of the mistakes.

Check out my blog on the bee movie

Bee Movie was fun and entertaining, but it missed out on a huge opportunity to upend gender stereotypes. The worker bees should have been female, of course, AND the florist should have been male. Seinfeld should have played the florist and Zellweger the bee.

Instead, the movie reinforces old stereotypes -- and not just gender stereotypes, but also race and even religious stereotypes (that Larry King Jew comment).

I think the movie did a great job of helping people to appreciate bees, but I'd hesitate to show it to children and instill them with the stereotypes of yesteryear. Happy about the good word on bees, sad about the huge opportunity lost.

Great review! As a (female) beekeeper I am just livid at this portrayal of a perfect female based society being changed to a male.
I do believe in equality....so would find a 50/50 split ok - although in accurate. But why do all the boy bees have to be the 'Jocks'....hmmmm maybe bees are the perfect society because they are almost all females.

(Sorry to my hubby! :-) )
