Gwen Pearson holds a PhD in Entomology, and runs Get Your Nature Geek On, a small company that specializes in science communication and websites for Nature and Research Centers. She blogged under the pseudonym "Bug Girl" for many years, since as a teacher and a state employee her ability to rant and rave was limited.
Gwen spent most of her early career as a faculty member at teaching-intensive colleges and universities. Her teaching and outreach experience includes 4-H training, public school science programs, undergraduate and graduate teaching and mentoring, and program assessment. Her research program focused on female insect behavior in pheromone communication systems.
In 2002 Gwen jumped the tenure track to move into administration, working as an Instructional Designer, in a Dean's Office, an Assistant Vice Provost's office, and as Assistant Director for a large research station. She currently serves as Network Coordinator for the Organization of Biological Field Stations.
