  5. I have a cousin whose daughter is considering a career in science. I told her that, “Science is like heroin – it’s sure a lot of fun, but it’s not really very good for you.”

    Her mother (my cousin) looked at me baffled that I had said that a career in science might not be healthy for her daughter.
