Via Boing Boing, I discovered the work of Cornelia Hesse Honnegerpentatomid. She is a scientific Illustrator in Europe, and does lovely watercolors, mostly of Heteroptera. Her current projects are focused on painting insects that are deformed due to radiation.

Personally, some of these deformities look like the regular things that happen to insects when things go wrong in metamorphosis; but you can’t argue that the paintings are amazing.
