I’m sorry, but this just made me laugh. A lot.

“High school students attended a trade expo in Katherine to consider future careers such as hairdressing, mango breeding and entomology.”

This is apparently from a radio/news blog in rural Australia.

  1. Do NOT get in the way of two mangoes determined to breed, that’s all I’m saying.

  2. Maybe some students will be inspired to try all three: hairdresser by day, Mango breeding lab in the attic, and entomologist by night.

  3. Yep, definitely sounds like the probably careers in Katherine.

  4. I’m trying to think of a more incongruous grouping of careers. Nothing is coming to me.

See, the entomologist can advise the mango breeder on how to keep the mangos from getting eaten by insects. And studying insects can be hard on the hair so–hairdresser.

Thermy has rather beaten me to the punch but yes I reckon that’s about it for a place like Katherine.

  7. I swear, no other planet in the universe has as much fun as we do :)

  8. Sorry to disappoint you, but it does make sense. Katherine is a bug-infested, mango rich, bad hair town. Katherine even has a population of Culex gelidus. It’s an exotic normally found in Asia and a carrier of Japanese encephalitis.
